The game went to penalties and it was Salthill's Ray Winters who missed the crucial spot-kick and Galway won to go through.

Limerick and Wexford Youth had to be decided by a penalty shoot-out after the two sides drew 1-1 at Jackman Park. Gavin Doyle gave Youths the perfect start when putting them 0-1 up but Stephen Goggins levelled for the Shannonsiders to send the game into penalties in which Pa Doyle helped Wexford to the 2nd round with a string of penalty saves.
