Colin Healy seals new contract

Former Celtic midfielder Colin Healy has signed a new contract with Cork City. The former Sunderland and Celtic player has signed until 2010 reportedly and will be in the squad for next season.
Cork City had agreed the deal before former manager Alan Matthews was sacked and the new owners went through with the deal.
Healy's signing will be good news but there is some bad news with Liam Kearney unlikely to be staying at Turner's cross or even Ireland with rumors of a move to Heerenveen in Holland, who tried to sign him back in 2005. Kearney is also on the list by some Swedish and Norwegian clubs.

Drogheda United trouble

2007 champions Drogheda United have been allowed to extend their examinership by a further 30 days by the courts. Drogheda United have been told to find more than €500,000 by the end of the 30 days otherwise the club will fold.
To help with the raising of the money supporters have organized fund raising events, but more will have to give.

player exodus:
The Drogheda squad is suffering from an exodus of players leaving for jobs and football abroad. Star striker Eamon Zayed has revealed he may have to leave Ireland to continue his career. The former Bray Wanderers man has been on trial with South Korean Deajon Citizen last month but has revealed he may move to either England or Scandinavia.
Zayed is reportedly interesting Deajon Citizen, Darlington, Viking FF and Djurgardens and Zayed expects a deal to be completed before Christmas.
Sami Ristilä has left the club to rejoin FC Haka of Finland and has signed a 3-year contract. Midfielder Brian Shelley has had offers from Bohemians and St Patrick's and is set to sign a deal in the coming days.
Winger Shane Robinson is on trial with Brentford with a permanent deal likely and Graham Gartland could be off to Scotland to join Rangers.
Australian John Tambouras has agreed a deal with Azerbaijan side Neftchi Baku and defender Joe Kendrick is set to follow to agree a deal with another Azerbaijan side.
Drogheda United will be losing some of their key players to cut down on the costs but they need to be sold for fees to go towards the figure wanted by the courts.
